Creative Industries from across the Northern Rivers region are gathering to lay the foundations for a sector-led approach to recovery following the recent flood disaster. Delivered by Arts Northern Rivers, the Forum will provide a place for the community to come together to identify and discuss the issues that matter most to them.

Arts Northern Rivers’ advocacy and support immediately following the disaster resulted in over $220,000 delivered in direct rapid response funding to individual flood affected creatives. Through this response, a sector wide snapshot of the direct impact was gained, documenting financial losses and damage from both independent creatives and organisations across the region. One of the key insights gained is the need for the creative industries to come together as a sector. In response to this, the Forum’s main objective is to provide practical support for priority areas of the recovery of the creative industries to bolster the sustainable recovery and rebuild agenda of the entire region.

Collectively, this forum will ask ‘Where to Now?’, developing a future road map for longer term recovery. Participants from the Creative Industries across all areas of the Northern Rivers are encouraged to attend and contribute their ideas.

The event will follow an Open Space format and be facilitated by Monica Davidson and her team of Creative Plus Business. Open Space is a technique for running meetings where the participants create and manage the agenda themselves. Participants will be invited to submit a wide range of ideas/desires/issues they would like to discuss. Open Space allows for inspiration to grow in the room, creating a humming dialogue and a sense of possibility of positive change.

The event will be accessible, and trauma informed, bringing a range of mental health and community services together to form a safe space for relationship building and connection.
