Central Neighbourhood Walks: Hagley

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Discover & discuss inner city life: join a free walk and facilitated conversation in the Hagley neighbourhood led by two people who work in the area.

This is a rapidly changing neighbourhood with some long-established institutions, including the hospital and Hagley Community College. Get to know this area better by meeting people who work and live in this part of the central city and discovering the new residential developments, the Metro Sports construction site and new sections of the South Frame.

The walk leaders are Justine and Dani from Grow Active Balfour terrace, a child care centre beside Metro Sports. Justine is the centre manager and Dani is the team leader. "We are excited to be a part of this wonderful opportunity to tour you all around our community."

All are welcome – whether you live or work in the area or are merely curious about inner city living in Christchurch. The walk finishes with the opportunity to continue the conversation over a coffee (our shout!)

This walk is a tour and a conversation for everyone to share experiences of living and being in inner city neighbourhoods. It is part of a programme of walks initiated by Christchurch City Council’s Central City Residential Programme to generate and gather people’s perceptions and experiences of these neighbourhoods as the central city develops. Council staff attend the walk to learn about the neighbourhood from those who live in and use it.

Please return your ticket and do not attend if you have COVID-19 symptoms or if you need to be in isolation for any reason.

The walk is free and booking is required.
