Reckon you could build your innovation skills or solve a problem in your community in one weekend? We reckon.
Startup Weekend is designed to challenge you to learn, step outside your comfort zone, innovate, disrupt, and take action. From parents, to students, to retirees, to current and former business owners, all you need to participate in Startup Weekend is a bit of curiosity and the desire to give it a go.
Gather with fellow Dunedin locals to kick off on Friday night and find your team. Together, brainstorm your way through first tries, second iterations, third attempts, and going-back-to-first-attempts-because-that-one-was-better-anyway revisions. You’ll create a business plan and throw together the best basic prototype (don’t forget to test it!) you can. After that, get ready to show it off Sunday night with demos and presentations.
Tickets cost $99. All teams are mentored by amazing industry leaders and will receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs. You don’t have to come away with a brand new business, either - the awesome skills you learn can be applied at your existing business or workplace!
Tickets are worth $250 per head after we cover food, venue hire, flying in mentors and equipment for the weekend. It costs our volunteer committee ~$20,000 to run Startup Weekend. Your tickets are only $99 because we have some amazing community sponsors that cover the extra costs. Startup Weekend is a full weekend-long experience. Your ticket also includes:
- ALL meals over the course of the weekend (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
- One-on-one time with amazing mentors from your community
- A new network of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs
- Free internet and free coffee!
