About the Speaker

Jerry is the founder and principal of the Law Offices of Jerry L. Johnson, a highly-focused Oakland-based law firm dedicated to the California Public Records Act. Driven by an unwavering commitment to accessibility and transparency, Jerry provides expert consultation to a diverse clientele. His practice supports a broad range of public record requestors, including concerned citizens, issue-driven nonprofits, investigative journalists, news organizations, and fellow attorneys seeking innovative advocacy strategies for their clients.

Jerry earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco. He then spent nearly two decades as a risk manager for Bay Area public agencies in education other essential public services, where he frequently served as a key resource for the public servants tasked with responding CPRA requests.
