Event description

Abbey Arts Present: Wolfchild, Arthur James, Arielle Thérèse live at Fremont Abbey

Wolfchild: wolfchildmusic.com

"WOLFCHILD is a Seattle based Cinematic Folk Rock band with influences ranging from the immersive earthy sounds of Gregory Alan Isakov, Lord Huron, and The Paper Kites to the contemporary experimentation you might expect from Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, or Andrew Bird.

They have performed on stages such as The Troubadour, Mississippi Studios, 'The Egg' (Albany, NY), Folklore (UK), and Java (Paris); At festivals like Imagine Music & Arts, Cascade Equinox, Oregon Country Faire, SXSW, Burning Man, 4 Peaks, Summer Meltdown, Northwest Folklife, and many more.

At the heart of the project is Gabriel Wolfchild and his brother Elion TruthHeart.

Gabriel’s emotive lyricism, enchanting vocals, and unique guitar work quickly won over Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Christina Aguilera on NBC’s The Voice with his soulful rendition of Dylan’s 'Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright,' culminating in a national tour.

Elion is a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist who effortlessly flows between drums and a variety of exotic string and woodwind accompaniment. He contributes to a rich vocal harmony that only brothers can create.

The duo has been playing music together since their earliest years. While In many ways they have evolved to be  about as different as they can be from one another.  It is in that contrast that they find their creative spark. Together they weave cathartic storytelling with dynamic soundscapes, from dreamy shoegaze-esk weightless atmosphere, to meditative orchestral overtones, and a rhythmic cinematic sound that could be the love child of Jonsi (Sigur Ros) and Nick Drake.

After staying mostly silent during the pandemic, WOLFCHILD released a full-length album: 'The Earth as Seen from the Moon' on 2/22/22. The album, recorded with producer Eric Lilavois at Seattle’s famous London Bridge Studio elicits a wistful mood with tales of love, loss, socio-political challenges, and ancestral roots.

Even more recently in March 2023 WOLFCHILD released another full length album dubbed 'Strawberry Skies' which was produced by Leonardo Bella. (Co-owner of the legendary Skyline Studios in NYC) This record is comprised of a series of intimately raw and primarily acoustic recordings made in Maui during the pandemic. This new record takes on a sound of its own because due to said Covid-19 pandemic the original 6 piece band found its self split up between Seattle and Maui . This left only the brothers Gabriel and Elion to write and record 'Strawberry Skies' adding only performances by two distinguished string players. Georgy Gusev (cello) and Don V Lax (Violin) as well as some subtle banjo and mandolin embellishments of producer Leonardo Bella himself." - Artist Bio

Arthur James: facebook.com/thecoalandtherake

"Born in Riverside, California, the oldest child in a military family, Arthur James has been traveling all his life. His songs are the landmarks of his journey and they paint vivid landscapes of the many thousands of miles he’s seen in a struggle to find the meaning of ‘home’.His lyricism lends to his patience and attention to the substance of every song, with nods to influences the likes of Gregory Alan Isakov, David Bazan, Beth Orton, Brandi Carlile, Dolores O'Riordan and John K. Samson." - Artist Bio

Arielle Therese:

She builds a participatory experience through real time live looping and participatory audience engagement. Arielle designs each performance to be a ceremony and to have some element of channeling and emergence.
