民国时期，一个缺水严重的乡村学校，校长将一头用来挑水的驴虚报成了英语老师。面临教育部特派员的检查，大家决定让一个铁匠来冒充这个叫"驴得水"的英语老师。没想到特派员对这位“驴得水老师”相当欣赏，决定将他捧成教育家，以获取美国慈善家的资助……事情的发展越来越超乎校长和老师们的预料，而局势也越来越失控……

During the Republican era, a rural school, suffering from severe water shortages, had its principal falsely register a donkey as an English teacher to fetch water for the school. When an inspector from the Ministry of Education arrived, the staff decided to have a blacksmith impersonate the so-called “Teacher Donkey De Shui.” Unexpectedly, the inspector was impressed by “Teacher Donkey De Shui” and began promoting him as an educational pioneer to attract funding from American philanthropists… As events spiraled beyond the principal’s and teachers’ expectations, he continually made compromises—all in pursuit of revitalizing rural education.
