This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

The Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand (FTAANZ) supports Fair Trade Faith Groups as part of our Communities program.

The guiding principles of the Fair Trade movement worldwide are the 10 Principles of Fair Trade, developed by the World Fair Trade Organisation. The Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand has developed a series of Bible Studies relating to each of these 10 Principles.

This online event is the first in a series of six Bible Study sessions, facilitated by the Fair Trade Association, for followers of Jesus Christ to learn more about the Fair Trade movement and how these 10 Principles link with biblical truths and values.

This session will look at the question: "Who made my things?" in the context of Principles 1 & 2.

BIBLE LESSON 1
PRINCIPLE 1: OPPORTUNITIES FOR DISADVANTAGED PRODUCERS

Poverty reduction through trade must form a key part of the organisation's aims. The organisation or business must assist vulnerable producers to move from income insecurity and poverty to economic self-sufficiency and ownership.

BIBLE LESSON 2
PRINCIPLE 2: TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY

The organisation must be transparent in its management and commercial relations.

The organisation finds appropriate, participatory ways to involve employees, members and producers in its decision-making processes.
