(11/21) Rescripted Cinema — Live improvised film dubbing

Old flicks. New words. Live improvised comedy film dubbing

Rescripted Cinema breathes new life into forgotten films. Based on your title suggestion, our improvisers create all-new stories while matching the action on-stage, in the moment, complete with props and costumes. It’s the perfect blend of film and live improvised comedy theater.

How does it work? Take a film (sometimes an obscure film, sometimes an international film, sometimes an old film, and sometimes an obscure, international, old film), remove the audio and shuffle the scenes. After taking an audience title suggestion, the Rescripted Cinema shadowcast takes the stage as the film clips roll. They’ll redub the dialogue and create an entirely new film from the old footage. All while trying to keep the on-stage action synched with the on-screen action.

Rescripted Cinema makes zombie films into Christmas stories, Christmas stories into murder mysteries, murder mysteries into heartwarming romances. What will the next film become? Not even the cast knows for sure.

Is it like Mystery Science Theater 3000? Um... sort of. Is it like The Rocky Horror Picture Show? Yeah... kind of… but no... not really. Rescripted Cinema is it’s own thing and it’s only at the Flipside Theatre. You have to see it for yourself!

Doors open at 7:50PM. Show starts at 8PM.
