Event description
Come and visit the world-famous Tip Top Ice Cream Factory, learn about the history, technology and conclude with ice cream eating!
This tour starts at 11.30am but you must be at Tip Top at 11am.
What's involved
- Our tour guides will explain how Tip Top ice cream is made in the factory
- See where our ice cream is made in our factory from enclosed viewing galleries (factory ice cream production viewing depends on the day).
- Choose one item to eat from our chest freezer and watch the Tip Top video
- Children, accompanied by an adult, can enjoy the outdoor playground before their tour finishes until 2pm.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please aim to be on site 30 minutes before the tour starts (11am).
If you arrive at the entrance gate later than 15 minutes before the tour starts you will NOT be allowed on-site and you will miss the tour.
There is a playground to use before or after the tour. Park in front of the playground and use the stairs there to ascend to the Tour Reception. Follow the Blue Line until you reach the Tip Top Tour Office. There is a map of the site on Tip Tops website (https://assets.website-files.com/60a36ef9206adf6114debfd7/60b0d6a3923a8631b3edc680_Factory-Tour-map-May-2019.pdf) which shows you where to go once on-site.
Everyone must wear closed toe footwear, and no strollers/pushchairs/prams/wheelchairs/walking frames are allowed on the tour. Slings and child packs are allowed.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Copy of your booking confirmation (booking number & name) to mark off on arrival.
- Flat closed toe shoes (no open toe sandals or jandals, no high heels)
WHAT NOT TO BRING:
There are nearly 100 stairs from the Factory Tour car park to our Factory viewing platforms. Due to safety and emergency evacuation considerations -
- Strollers, pushchairs and/or prams are not allowed on the tour. (If a child needs to be carried, they should be in a backpack, front pack, or baby sling.)
- Walking frames and wheelchairs are also not permitted.
- Please contact us if you or someone on your tour needs to use crutches.
ALLERGIES:
• If there are any persons on Tour with severe food allergies and cannot be near others consuming specific food groups, we must know prior to the day so that we can remove products from our freezers.
• Persons who carry epi-pens must carry them on tour and let a tour guide know they have an
allergy prior to entering the factory.
• Ensure an adult takes responsibility for assisting children with allergies in making a safe
choice from our ice cream range.
ACCESSIBILITY:
• Visitors need to be physically able to cope with climbing stairs. There are 68 stairs from the
carpark to the tour reception and a further 24 steps to access the tour galleries.
• Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate wheelchairs or walking frames as they will prove
hazardous during an emergency evacuation.
• For the same reason, pushchairs and prams are not permitted on the factory tour. Babies and
children should not be carried by hand up and down stairs during the tour. If a child needs to
be carried, they should be in a backpack, front pack, or baby sling.
• Please contact us on factorytour@tiptop.co.nz if you require Mobility parking as we need to
ensure we have adequate parking available.
