Event description

You are warmly invited behind the fences and inside the Cathedral to see the City Mission Christmas Tree.

Christ Church Cathedral is opening bookings to the people of Christchurch this Christmas to come inside – yes inside – where they will see the 10-metre steel City Mission Christmas Tree.

The Twelve Days of Christmas event will offer a chance to go inside the Cathedral weekdays from December 3 - 18 for up to 50 visitors at a time.

Cost of entry to the tour is a koha, we suggest a minimum $25 donation.

All proceeds go to the Christchurch City Mission. Opening the Cathedral and erecting and lighting the tree has been achieved at no cost to Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Limited (CCRL), or the City Mission, thanks to the generous support of Christchurch businesses.

If you can’t make a tour gifts and non-perishable off donations can be dropped to the Transitional Cathedral (234 Hereford) anytime between 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday.

The tree is a symbol of a city which cares for all its people by helping the City Mission at Christmas when it needs it most.

All donations and gifts will be given to the Christchurch City Mission.

Hard hats and high vis vests are required to be worn, and the groups will be limited to 50 people over 12 years of age. Please wear sensible flat shoes as the ground is uneven. Unfortunately, the Cathedral is only accessible to people without physical disabilities.
