Event description

We are delighted to invite you to our annual Celebration of Sport Dinner, a night dedicated to celebrating our students outstanding achievement in sport. This event is our opportunity to celebrate a history making year in Mentone Girls' sport and celebrate the achievements of all involved.

The following awards will be presented at the event:

  • Service to Sport Awards (Meerkat Awards)
  • Sportswoman of the Year (Senior, Intermediate, Junior)
  • Bechavaise Trophy (Swimming & Athletics)
  • GSV Representatives
  • State & National Representatives

We also have a brilliant panel of guest speakers for our event. All of our guest speakers are elite athletes and have a connection to our Mentone Girls' community. We can't wait for them to explore our theme of aspiring and thriving in an rapidly changing environment for female athletes in Australia.

Details: $90.00 two-course meal (Soft Drinks Included - Alcohol at Bar Prices)
Seating : Students will be allocated seating at the front of the room. Parents please select seats at the back of the room, on your desired table.

It is my absolute pleasure to announce our guest speaker for 2024:

Katie Brennan

Katie Brennan is a talented AFLW player known for her leadership and skills on the field. She plays for the Richmond Football Club where she has made a significant impact as a goal kicking forward. Off the field, she is a strong advocate for gender equality in sports and a mentor for young athletes. Katie was the Head Coach for our Mentone Girls' Football team in 2024.

Claudia Hollingsworth

Claudia Hollingsworth is a rising Australian middle-distance runner, known for her exceptional talent in the 800m and 1500m events. Born in 2005, she quickly gained attention for her speed and endurance, becoming one of the country's top young athletes. Hollingsworth represented Australia at the recent Paris Olympic Games in the 800m finishing 7th in the Semi-Final. With her determination and athleticism, Hollingsworth is seen as a future star in athletics, inspiring young athletes with her achievements at such a young age.

Aimee Medwin

Aimee Medwin is a talented and versatile soccer player for Western United FC in the Women's A League. Aimee, also in the role of Strength & Conditioning Coach at Mentone Girls', has recently returned to playing following an ACL injury in 2023. Aimee represented Australia at Under-16 level and was awarded a scholarship to play College Soccer in the USA
