Event description
Kate Winslet is remarkable in her portrayal of Lee Miller, a woman who herself lived an astonishing life, refusing to bow to gender stereo types. American born, prior to the second world war, Miller was a model and photographer who lived in France and Egypt, working and fraternising with artists including Man Ray. When war broke out, she fought gender discrimination to become a front-line war correspondent. Her singular talent and ferocious tenacity gave us some of the 20th century’s most indelible images, a woman’s view of the conflict and its casualties. Ellan Kuras’ story of Miller’s life is a wonderful tribute to an extraordinary life.
