Event description

Muslim Community Seminar Day, at Bryan Brown Theatre.

Coping with Trauma: How to Heal Islamic Perspectives (Seminar)

Two experts in the field of psychological trauma will be holding a one day seminar about the psychological indictors trauma, how trauma is maintained in the body, and address different evidence-based and culturally-appropriate strategies to heal from trauma.

This pre-conference workshop is designed to equip everyday Muslims and community workers with the tools and knowledge necessary to effectively manage and mitigate vicarious trauma resulting from the ongoing war against Palestinians in Gaza.

As the distressing images and narratives of the conflict pervade media and personal networks, many individuals are at risk of experiencing secondary trauma, which can affect their mental health and well-being.

This workshop will explore the nature of vicarious trauma, its psychological and spiritual impacts, and practical strategies for coping and resilience. Through a blend of Islamic perspectives, psychological principles, and community-based practices, participants will learn how to care for themselves and support others in the face of overwhelming grief and trauma.
