2 Chairs: The Secret That Changes Everything

Please permit me a moment to tell you a story.

I'm an avid podcast listener.  Back in 2016 I was listening to a podcast interview on The Ziglar Show where Bob Beaudine was sharing about his latest book: "2 Chairs: The Secret That Changes Everything." The podcast intrigued me as for many years as a company I had been encouraging people to "connect with God through profound strategies that help them to glory God and grow their business supernaturally."  The profound strategy that Bob was talking about was very simple.  Set up two chairs, one for God and one for you.  Then sit in your chair and simply ask God the question:  "God, what's on your heart for me today?" Then listen.

As I listened to the interview I knew I had to buy the book. Which I did. (I do that a lot as my bookcase attests too!)

The book arrived and I started to read, and kept reading, and kept reading.  What unfolded before me was the story of Bob asking three very disruptive questions:

1. Does God know your situation? YES!

2. Is it too hard for Him to handle? NO!

3. Does He have a good plan for you? YES!

I had to do a breakfast radio show the next morning at 6:30 am leaving home at 6 - yet I was still reading at 2 am in the morning as Bob shared story after story after story of how God had meet people at their 2 Chairs times and just loved on people.  Whether they be Christian or not.  God also tended to speak specific strategies to them about the answer to the situation that they are facing right now. I was hooked.

Since that time, I have encouraged many many people to have "2 Chairs" times, given away a lot of books and lead many groups in times of asking God that simple question: "God, what's on your heart for me today?".  It has also lead me for the past year to lead a Listening Prayer Time each Wednesday morning where a group of us spend time in God's presence, read a passage of Scripture, listen to a worship song, and then spend 20 minutes listening in silence to what God wants to share to us, then sharing it as a group.  How God has spoken during those times has been mind blowing.

Fast forward to the start of 2022.  I'm at a prophetic conference.  Went out the front for ministry. But alas, no one prayed for me. They prayed for all those around me, but not me.  It's not the first time this has happened.  But what I have learned during those times is that God wants to speak to me about something specifically. So God and I started a conversation.  "God, what do you want to speak to me about?" I heard him whisper so strongly, it's time to bring Bob Beaudine to Australia.  My heart leapt.  it was so clear.  Not something too left field, but something I had been wanting for clear guidance to do.

I went home very excited.  Messaged Bob straight away.  "Bob, I just felt God say it's time to bring you to Australia."  Bob's response wasn't that enthusiastic. You see it was around the time of Novak Djokovic's visit to Australia and all that entailed.  Bob said, "your country would put my in jail!" The next morning, I went for a walk. "God", I said, "you were so clear, but it is obvious that this is not going to happen."  God whispered back: "There is more than one way to bring Bob to Australia. I want you to distribute 1000 of his books here." I could do that, I responded.  It would cost a lot, but hey God if you are in this, I'm willing.  I went back to Bob, he said, it's ok I can give you 1,000 books for free as long as you pay the freight.  A good friend was around for dinner and we were discussing what God said.  He said he would cover the cost of the freight. So, by the grace of God, I now have 1,000 "2 Chairs' books to give away. Well, actually less than that as people have already been getting wind of it and been taking them for the churches, their boards, their staff and their friends.

Why go into such detail? Because often we hear what God is saying and run off and just do it.  But I've found that it is not what God said, but what God is saying to you.  That you need to develop a consistent time of meeting with God and constantly go back to him in conversation to not only clarify what He said but to seek further direction.  With God it is a relationship.  Like any relationship it grows by spending time with Him.

We live in a VUCA world.  This means the world is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous.   Why not develop a relationship with the one who created this world, and knows it inside out.  The one who knows the end from the beginning. The one who knows the situation you are facing right now and has a solution for you.

If there was a 1% chance that the God of the universe would meet with you tomorrow morning in a "2 Chairs" time would you go?
