Biodynamics: 2-Day Workshop

Join our resident educators Hamish Mackay from Biodynamics 2024, Tony Browne from Brownies Biodynamics, and special guest Charlie Arnott, an award-winning 8th-generation Australian farmer, educator, and advocate for regenerative farming and wellness practices. Charlie’s family farm transitioned under his guidance from a conventional industrial operation to a biodynamic, holistically managed farm partnering with nature. 

What to Expect:

This immersive 2-day workshop will introduce you to Biodynamics, a holistic, ecological, and ethical approach to farming and gardening. You’ll gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge to enhance soil health, grow nutrient-dense food, and work in harmony with natural systems.

Key Topics Covered:
  • Foundations of Biodynamics: Explore natural and spiritual science as interconnected worldviews.
  • Winter Biodynamic Preparations: Learn to spread Horn Silica (buried over summer) to enhance plant vitality and light absorption, create and apply Soil Activator, and craft high-quality compost to improve soil fertility.
  • Biodynamic Preparations: Understand the purpose, creation, and application of field and compost preparations such as BD500 and BD501.
  • Soil Health and the Soil Food Web: Dive into the life within your soil and how to support it.
  • Managing Pests, Weeds, and Diseases: Discover biodynamic methods to achieve natural balance on your land.
  • Astro Calendar: Learn how to harness cosmic rhythms to enhance yields and crop quality.
Practical Sessions:
  • Spread Horn Silica preparation for plant health.
  • Make and apply Soil Activator for regeneration and resilience.
  • Compost creation and preparation integration.
  • Fermentation processes using weeds, seaweed, and fish for biostimulants.
