Event description

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Jane Austen is one of the greatest romantic fiction writers of all time. So to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the BBC Pride and Prejudice mini series and the 20th anniversary of the 2005 film, Picked Last For Sport are giving Jane Austen's classic a musical makeover in this hilarious and “somewhat” faithful retelling by the five Bennet sisters, complete with bonnets and a delightfully rigid guest appearance by Colin Firth! (It’s a cardboard cutout).

A battle of the wits with classic original hits such as “Mr Darcy in That Wet Shirt”, “Marry Your Cousin”, and “Regency Love”, 2 Proud 2 Prejudiced: An Austen-tatious Cabaret will have you in hysterics and is sure to be the event of the season!

From the same group who brought you the award winning show Creatures of the Deep (Melbourne Fringe Festival 2018) and Green Room Award nominated Creatures Lost (Melbourne Fringe Festival 2019) you will witness the same brilliant harmonies and lyrical prowess in 2 Proud 2 Prejudiced.

Our group comprises Sarah Edgar, Ryan Smith, Sean Sully, Charli Lewis and Freya Long. Sarah is a performer, musician and co-founder of Picked Last for Sport, who teaches music and acting at Bianca Fenn School of Music. She has also performed in comedy duo The Astruds. Ryan, also co-founder of Picked Last For Sport, is a performer, with experience in stand up, MC-ing and puppetry, most recently working with the Diamond Valley Singers as director of their sold out run of their 'I Wanna Be Evil’ cabaret. Sean Sully is a musician in The Sleep-Ins, Matt Bourke and the Delusional Drunks and plays music tributes with Second Hand News. Charli Lewis often works behind the scenes, having assistant directed and choreographed several shows with Diamond Valley Singers, which led to a Lyrebird Award nomination and Young Creative Leader Award at Nillumbik Shire Council’s International Women’s Day event. Earlier this year, she made her solo directorial debut with The Little Mermaid at Diamond Valley Singers and choreographed their I Wanna Be Evil cabaret. Freya Long is a performer and musician who has worked with Picked Last for Sport, The Astruds, and plays music tributes with Second Hand News.
