Sun, 14 Dec, 10am - 4pm AEDT

Event description

In this special one-day workshop, you’ll explore the creative potential of working within a set format: 20cm x 20cm. The workshop is designed alongside the Tiliqua Tiliqua exhibition of the same theme, so there will be plenty to inspire you on site. By limiting both paper and plate size, new possibilities open up. With fewer options, you’re encouraged to adapt, experiment, and activate creativity in unexpected ways.

This workshop is perfect for making a series of unique prints that also make excellent gifts or personal keepsakes. No printmaking experience is required—each technique will be demonstrated and supported with take-home notes.

You will be guided through accessible printmaking processes designed to fit the 20 x 20 format, including:

  • Watercolour monotype + etching

  • Origami monoprint + Image transfer + chine colle

  • Textures, layering & hybrid approaches

  • Working within a consistent square format encourages creative problem-solving and experimentation. By the end of the day, you’ll have a collection of small, powerful works ready to frame or share.

Morning tea and all materials are provided, so all you will need to bring are:

  • A sketch book, pencil or something to write and draw with

  • An apron (and/or wear clothes you don’t mind getting inky)

  • Your lunch (however there are plenty of great cafes and a supermarket nearby)

  • Your questions, eagerness and curiosity

  • Optional: your favourite printmaking paper.
