Join us to celebrate 20 years of Women in Media!

Twenty years ago, a group of Perth women gathered for the first Women in Media event, sharing stories, ideas, and a vision for a more connected industry. That night, Women in Media (WiM) was born.

Since then, WiM has grown into a national network of more than 6,400 women, spanning journalism, communications, marketing, film, broadcasting, PR, publishing, and beyond. While we’ve expanded, our purpose remains the same- helping women connect, learn, and contribute across all facets of the media.

Join us for a special night of celebration, conversation, and connection.

We’re gathering at The Globe - Lounge to mark this milestone, welcome old friends and new, and reflect on how far we’ve come.

To honour the occasion, we’re re rolling back the clock with tickets at the original 2005 price - just $25.
Numbers are capped, so book now to secure your spot.

(Directly across the road from Perth Busport and Perth City Train Station.)

Women in Media is a nationwide initiative for women working in all forms of media, advertising, marketing, and communications. We are a not-for-profit industry body developed by and for women in media across Australia. We thrive as a result of the tremendous work of volunteers to run our state committees, act as mentors and give their time as guest speakers.

Women in Media began in 2005 in Western Australia when journalist and author Victoria Laurie created a group devoted to supporting each other and carving out opportunities for women to network. This was the catalyst for a movement, which has spread across the country.

From 2013 to 2017 the organisation expanded to NSW, Queensland, Canberra, Victoria, and South Australia under the leadership of Tracey Spicer AM who was the national convenor.

From 2017 to 2022, co-chairs Kathy McLeish and Cath Webber cemented WiM’s status as a national organisation with new branches established in the Northern Territory, Tasmania, and North Queensland. Today, Women in Media is a thriving, voluntary organisation devoted to the mentoring and professional development of women in all forms of media.
