Key Emerging Contaminants in Wastes Generated in Qld: Challenges and Opportunities
Event description
Dear all,
This is the 2nd workshop with the final progress update on "Characterisation (PFAS and heavy metals) of organic wastes generated in Queensland" which was jointly funded by Department of Environment and Science, Griffith University and supported by industry through ANROWM.
This project aims to:
a. Determine the quantity and chemical composition of major contaminants (PFAS species, and heavy metals) in a range of organic wastes (e.g., Commercial product, Biosolids, Vegetable production waste, Cotton waste, Cane waste, Food processing waste, Wood Waste, Green wastes, Sludges, Treatment tank sludges, Leachate, Sawdust, Poultry Processing Waste, Animal manure, Grease trap waste) produced across Queensland;
b. Determine the quantity of Carbon and key nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium etc.) in range of organic wastes produced across Queensland.
c. Enhance Industry, and End-user awareness on recent emerging contaminants in organic waste through ANROWM
The first workshop was held on 8 Oct 2019 at Griffith University attended by 35 people from QLD State Government and Industry. This second workshop will present the final update to the industry and State Government.
We would also appreciate receiving your feedback in relation to:
- How much benefit industry find in this study?
- How industry like to see this project to be continued
Please send any feedback by COB of 8 June to m.esfandbod@griffith.edu.au.
