2010: The Aftermath — 15 Years of Memory, Healing & Rehumanization
Event description
Fifteen years ago, Haiti was struck by the devastating 2010 earthquake, forever changing lives and communities both in Haiti and across the diaspora. This bilingual (Kreyòl & English) workshop invites participants into a safe, interactive space to honor those we lost, reflect on the lived impacts of the earthquake, and explore how dehumanization and global neglect shaped our present reality.
Together, we will:
Share personal stories and memories across generations and borders.
Examine the failures of the international response and their ongoing consequences.
Engage in creative exercises to reclaim Haitian dignity and humanity.
Contribute to a collaborative community zine capturing our truths, reflections, and visions for the future.
This workshop is trauma-informed, grounding-focused, and interactive, blending storytelling, dialogue, art, and somatic exercises to ensure participants leave feeling empowered, connected, and grounded.
Whether you are Haitian in Haiti, part of the diaspora, or simply someone committed to learning and solidarity, this workshop provides a rare space to remember, reflect, and rehumanize together.
