2023 Open Together Access & Inclusion Training - Wednesday June 21st (9am - 2pm)
Event description
Do you live in Victoria and work with young people, or are you studying to one day work with young people? Then this free training is for you! Together will teach you how to better include disabled young people in your service or your work. We've made this Together open to workers or students who aren't likley to get this training through their work or organisation. Together Training is provided by Youth Disability Advocacy Service (YDAS), a core agency of Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic).
Please Note: Tickets will close 4 working days before the session, to ensure we can arrange access needs.

Time: 9am - 2pm AEDT (Break from 11am to 12pm)
Location: Zoom - a link will sent to participants via Humanitix email prior to the session

The training will explore:
- assumptions about disabled young people and how to challenge them
- how and why to ask questions
- models of disability (different ways to understand what it means to be disabled)Â
- disability and language
- context of disability
- statements of commitment to access and inclusion
- accessibility in practice (planning, communicating, delivering and reviewing work)
- access keys and social scripts – tools for accessibility
