Event description

This year, our club is going to invite the families to volunteer with Farm Raiser.

Farm Raiser is a not-for-profit, charity urban farm in Bellfield, in the north-east of Narrm/Melbourne, Australia. The farm exists to address food insecurity, and social isolation and promote better health outcomes, particularly for young people with disabilities.

We are very grateful for this opportunity to raise the next generation to be conscious of valuing its environment and getting outdoors to connect with the community. By linking to the local environment and community, children will demonstrate an increasing knowledge of, and respect for natural and constructed environments as we also model respect, care and appreciation for the natural environment.
In this session, we will do tasks such as weeding, mulching, fertilising, harvesting, and composting, depending on the day.

The session runs from 1-4pm followed by Changeover Dinner at Templestowe Hotel at 4.30pm

Templestowe Hotel Address: 23 Parker Street, Templestowe Lower

What to wear: Please dress for the weather and with sensible shoes.

What to bring: Bring a water bottle and gardening gloves.

The following will be provided: Tools and equipment.

Lions Club of Melbourne Next Gen would like to acknowledge the traditional lands of (Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung) people as the Traditional Owners of the land and waterways, and we would like to pay our respect to Elders both past and present. We extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people here today.
