    Event description

Join us for the 'new look' 2024 GOTM & Chupis Fundraiser on 16th of March. We look forward to welcoming you to 195 Whitehorse Rd, a stone's throw away from the Palace Balwyn Cinema, where you can enjoy a variety of canapes, a complimentary drink, the company of other interested guests and listen to Celi speak about her two remarkable charities.

Around 6pm we will walk to the cinema to watch the movie 'The Great Escaper', a 2023 biographical drama film directed by Oliver Parker, written by William Ivory, and starring Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson.

If you prefer to come to the movie only, the opportunity exists to buy a 'cinema ticket only' for the price of $30. We will meet you at the cinema. You will recognise us by our T-shirts.

The aim of this event is to raise funds for two charities, each dedicated to making a meaningful impact in communities locally and internationally:

    1. ‘Gecko on the Move’ (GOTM) which is committed to promoting mathematics education in resource-constrained communities worldwide. Through teacher training and the use of manipulatives, GOTM strives to make maths learning engaging and accessible, particularly for children aged 5 to 7 years old. Additionally, the charity endeavours to provide isolation kits for children confined to cancer wards at the UTH hospital in Lusaka, Zambia, ensuring they have access to educational resources and support during challenging times.

    2. ‘Chupis', a grassroots organisation dedicated to providing essential sanitary provisions to young, vulnerable Indigenous Australians and East African girls. Chupis operates with a holistic approach, reinvesting profits from underwear sales into impactful social, environmental, and educational projects. These projects include the distribution of washable period pads to vulnerable teens in East Africa and the appointment of a local director to oversee operations in the region.

Get a group of family and friends together and we look forward to seeing you on March 16.
