Event description

THE BEAUTIFUL SPACES IN BETWEEN WITH DEBORAH STEIN

This very special three-day creative retreat is an experience to lovingly explore the quiet in-betweens – an exploration and discovery of the myriad ways the poetry of the pause might bring new life and breath into our art and help us to find deeper connection to ourselves and our artistic voices. In quieting our loudest thoughts and preconceived ideas about our lives, we’ll make spaces to see and play and make room to listen and allow our art-making to guide us to the stories that live inside and have been waiting to be told.

It has been said that Deborah’s superpower is helping artists find their truest visions and voice. She’s designed this workshop to create thoughtful and playful ways to lose ourselves and ponder the magic of the beautiful things in between with watercolor, pencils, words, and thread in the extraordinary mountain town of Boulder.

Deborah will guide and inspire us to tease out new ideas and experiences with a new theme each day: 1. Breathe 2. Gather 3. Repair. We’ll work with our hands and all of our senses, letting ourselves imagine and connect to our creative voices and the landscapes both inner and outer, growing and cultivating our work like flowers. This retreat is all about caring for our creativity, connecting to our imaginations, and the exploration of what becomes possible in the motions of art-making. With pause, breath and intention, we’ll let color run away with water, see a flower become a whole world, watch paper transform into magic, and discover how a stitch can make something old new again. We’ll make visual poetry through the lens of our singular artistic processes and with all the hope that comes with letting go, we’ll allow questions and wonderings to become beautiful breathing things.
