2024 Providence Horror 48 Hour Film Project

Event description

See the best horror films in Providence and have a spooky good time. This will be our first horror 48HFP in 10 years! We'll have a fun host, some spooky surprises, and celebrate community filmmaking. The night will end with awards being given out to the best films.

We'll be screening all the films on October 18th at Moniker Brewery. We'll open doors at 6pm and start the films at 7pm or as soon as the sun goes down. Depending on timing, there may be a filmmaker Q+A.

We've had a very excellent year and we're making this event free to the public. If you're able, our suggested donation is $10.

FAQ
  • Can I wear a costume? > It's October, so sure! Mel might even wear one of her monster hoodies.
  • Is there food at the Moniker? > Moniker doesn't serve food, but there's a bunch of great places within walking distance. You can even pre-order your food, pick it up on the way, and bring it to the venue. We recommend There There, Y Noodle Bar, and The Slow Rode. AND There There is offering a discount code if you order from the taproom! Just order online and enter “taproom” to get 5% off your order!
  • Can I bring my own food > Yes! Moniker even says so on their website.
  • How many films are screening? > We have the capacity for 15 films, and plan to expand next year.
  • How scary are these films? > We won't know until they're done, but we'll put warnings on films that show self-harm and/or violence against animals, women, and children. We reserve the right to expand this set of criteria to create a fun viewing experience.
  • What's the cost? > It's free but we're asking for donations. To fund our 2025 events.
  • How will donations be used? > Donations go to our Kindling Industry Training Studio (KITs) workshops in the spring of 2025. Donations will go towards booking the space, paying instructors, and covering those costs.

The Kindling Project is our fiscal sponsor, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
