Join us for the 15th annual STARTTS Refugee Ball – an unforgettable evening dedicated to raising funds for refugees and celebrating the strength of survivors of torture and trauma. This is an opportunity to gather with a like-minded community, support vital causes, and enjoy a night of inspiration and entertainment.
Why Attend?
Keynote Speaker: We are honoured to welcome Gillian Triggs, former President of the Australian Human Rights Commission, as this year's keynote speaker. Gillian will share her insights on the global refugee landscape, especially in the wake of the U.S. Presidential election just days before the Ball.
Our Causes: Funds raised will support:
The Journey: A STARTTS program empowering young refugee men to explore positive masculinity through storytelling and leadership.
IRCT Urgent Appeal for the Middle East & North Africa Region: Supporting survivors of torture and trauma with life-saving aid.
Entertainment: Dance the night away with VENENO featuring Carlos C Major and enjoy spectacular performances that reflect the rich cultural diversity of the community we serve.
Raffle Prizes: Don’t miss your chance to win a signed 2024 NSW State of Origin winning team jersey! Tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50.
MC: The evening will be hosted by Jahin Tanvir, an award-winning advocate for young people and diversity, who will guide us through an evening of celebration and reflection.
This year, we also commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Convention – a reminder of why defending the rights of refugees remains so important today.
