Event description

Join us for the 2025 Sunshine Coast Moonwalk - a full moon event with music, magic, and hope - to help cure SPG56 for Coolum’s Tallulah Moon and kids like her.

This inclusive, family-friendly charity event features live music by Tom Busby (Busby Marou) and will be MC’d by Paralympian and disability advocate Karni Liddell. Together, we’re supporting Our Moon’s Mission, raising funds for a life-changing gene therapy for children living with the rare neurodegenerative disease SPG56.

🌕 2025 Moonwalk Event Highlights:

Moonwalk at 5:00 PM (30 mins wheelchair accessible walk):
Walk together on a fully accessible coastal boardwalk path under the rising full moon. Led by drummers and filled with community spirit, this beachside walk is suitable for all ages, prams, and wheelchairs - starting from Tickle Park toward Wilkinson Park Lookout and back.

Tom Busby Live for the Cause:
Beloved Queensland musician Tom Busby (of Busby Marou) is generously gifting his music to the cause, headlining an uplifting afternoon of live music to carry us into the moonlight.

• Drumming Circle – Summon the Moon!
In collaboration with Circadian Rhythms, who led last year’s unforgettable moonwalk, and powered by Team Musicare and Project Olympus 2032, this joyful, all-ages, all-abilities drumming circle invites everyone to summon the moon before the walk! No experience needed! Just bring your mojo and your smile. Drums provided, or BYO!

Silent Disco with Moon Trance Vibes:
Thanks to the legends at Team Musicare, experience a silent disco for all ages and abilities, bringing rhythm, beats and inclusive access to music under the moonlight.

• Special Guest Speakers:
With the event set to be MC’d by Paralympian and disability advocate Karni Liddell, we’ll hear heartfelt words from local legends and rare disease champions sharing stories of strength, hope, and community.

🌙 ABOUT OUR MISSION TOWARDS CLINICAL TRIAL

One year on from our very first Moonwalk — which drew over 400 people together in Coolum, and hundreds more around the world — we’re closer than ever to curing a rare disease once considered untreatable.

Our ACNC registered charity Genetic Cures for Kids has been steadfastly funding genetic research for four years through our first mission 'Our Moon's Mission'. Our goal is to find a cure for Tallulah Moon's ultra-rare neurodegenerative disease, SPG56 in time for her and other children globally.

Though it may seem like a moonshot, it IS possible.

Through Our Moon’s Mission, we’ve been funding the research that pharmaceutical companies won't. Because SPG56 affects so few, there’s no commercial incentive — just parents, researchers, and communities like ours doing everything we can to give our children the life they deserve.

Thanks to an extraordinary international effort, we’ve almost made the gene therapy. The science is there. The manufacturing process is underway. Now, we need to fund the clinical trial — the final and critical step to get this medicine to the children who need it.

This isn’t just for Tallulah Moon. It’s for kids around the world who are living with SPG56.

Join us under the full moon for music, connection, and a powerful community push to finish what we started. Together, let’s make this moonshot possible.
