Event description

2025 Dr Peter Domachuk Memorial Lecture: Heat, light, and passive cooling presented by Professor Shanhui Fan, Stanford University

Join us for the 2025 Dr Peter Domachuk Memorial Lecture presented by Professor Shanhui Fan from Stanford University.

Light, or electromagnetic waves, represent one of the most fundamental mechanisms for thermal transport. The heat of the sun, for example, comes to us through solar radiation. The ability to control light therefore has profound implications for the control of thermal transport as well.

In this talk, we will discuss modern advances in the use of nanostructures to control the flow of light and heat, leading to new technologies such as daytime radiative cooling.

At the end of the talk, there will be a Q&A followed by a cocktail reception.
