Event description

Our POE-TREE: for poets!

At the festival, we will be planting a POE-TREE, launched and acknowledged by The Hon. Maree Edwards MP.

Poets are invited to submit their poems for consideration to be read at the planting. Poems must be on the broad theme of how it will take many hands to build a sustainable future. The winning poem will receive a $250 voucher for Bunnings. Up to five poems will be selected to be read on the day. Others will go in the running to be published online. Submit your poems now to festival@bsg.org.au (include your name, your poem and contact number). Entry to submit your poem is $5 by donation which includes your festival ticket.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS FRIDAY 14 MARCH.

The planting itself will take place at 2pm during the festival at the Garden for the Future (exact location to be determined).

About the festival.

Now a hallmark of Bendigo’s annual event calendar, the Bendigo Sustainability Festival is back in 2025 to engage, empower and inspire positive action in our community. The theme this year is "Many Hands', inspired by the famous quote: “We were born with two hands, one to help ourselves and one to help others.” It has taken many hands to create the Bendigo we know and love and it will take many hands (including yours) to grow a sustainable future together. This year's festival will include talks, stalls, kitchen table conversations, information on living more sustainably, a wash against waste trailer, an EV Expo, acts, singers, artists, and performers on the main stage, a sustainable fashion show, clothes swap, and repair cafe. Join us for an incredible day as we come together to contribute to creating a sustainable future. $5 tickets (by donation: tax deductible).
