Event description

In a time marked by deepening political divides, rising misinformation and multilayered crises, the 2025 Kaldor Centre Conference, Building bridges: Advancing refugee protection in a divided world, explores how we can build bridges—between communities, across sectors, and through law and policy—to strengthen refugee protection.

How can we foster constructive dialogue in polarised environments shaped by technological and populist forces? What action is needed to forge meaningful partnerships centring people with lived experience in advancing their rights? How can we mobilise all sectors of society to uphold protection amid unprecedented pressure on the international protection system?

Join us for a day of dynamic discussion showcasing principled, practical ideas and evidence to meet this challenging moment.

Ways to join

In-person

Join us in-person at UNSW Sydney for a day of learning and discussion with leading thinkers. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided along with plenty of networking opportunities, including a complimentary closing reception. This is a day not to be missed.

Virtual

This year we are offering the conference in a hybrid format. Virtual (online only) tickets would suit those unable to attend the event in-person but still keen to take part on the day, as it unfolds, including access to the Q&A discussions. Sessions will be made available on demand to account for time zone differences.
