Event description

This event is part of the 2025 Great Southern Treasures Bloom Festival.

Kojonup is gaining an international reputation for its diverse range of stunning gardens attracting local, inter-state and international visitors and tours. Our featured garden owners are passionate and knowledgeable and always happy to chat, answer questions and provide advice with several offering a range of plants for sale.

Elverd’s Cottage – Open Saturday 4 October 10am-1pm

$15pp, children under 10 free (entry includes morning tea, coffee and homemade treats)

All funds will go towards the restoration & maintenance of Kojonup’s historical buildings.

The Shire’s historical community garden at Elverd’s Cottage is one of our feature gardens this year with cottage garden plants available for sale. Located on Pensioner Road, Elverd’s Cottage is one of only two remaining Pensioner Guard Cottages open to the public in WA. Come and find out who the Pensioner Guards were and discover some of their fascinating stories.

Pine Avenue – Open Sat 4 & Sun 5 Oct 10am-4pm

$10 per garden – Book 3 gardens in advance $25 (excluding Elverd’s Cottage)

The garden at Pine Avenue has and continues to be a labour of love undertaken by Eric Wright who together with his wife Cathy have developed this stunning garden for over 37 years. Cathy and Eric are passionate gardeners with their beautiful garden gracing the pages of many magazines.

La Hacienda – Open Sat 4 & Sun 5 Oct 10am-4pm

$10 per garden – Book 3 gardens in advance $25 (excluding Elverd’s Cottage)

This amazing garden develops and changes annually as Mary adds new rooms and artwork to her garden, reflecting her artistic talent and ability to create beautiful and sustainable spaces. La Hacienda sits on a 2 ½ acre site which Mary began developing 45 years ago and her passion shines through. This stunning garden is a testament to her ingenuity and creativity with Mary masterfully stitching together an eclectic mix of plants bursting with colour, texture and form.

A Creative and Meticulously Designed Garden – Open Sat 4 & Sun 5 Oct 10am-4pm

$10 per garden – Book 3 gardens in advance $25 (excluding Elverd’s Cottage)

Responding to the drying climate this meticulously planned and thoughtfully planted garden is surprisingly only 4 years old and was the result of the new owners receiving an unexpectedly high water bill. Without any gardening experience, Stephen and Devine transformed their corner site in the centre of Kojonup into a water efficient garden to entertain their family and friends. The couple’s passion for their garden is obvious and every spare moment is invested into this sculptural garden which they designed and developed from a blank canvas.
