2025 Legal Studies Youth Parliament
Event description
Give your Legal Studies students the opportunity to experience law-making first hand.
The Legal Studies Youth Parliament is a unique experience that allows Queensland students to consider the processes and roles of government in shaping law in Queensland. Taking place in the Legislative Assembly Chamber, students take to the floor to:
- Â debate a mock bill, or
-  provide a private members' statement or speak in an adjournment debate about an issue facing their local community or Queensland.Â
Youth Parliament is hosted by the Queensland Parliament and will be chaired by the Speaker, the Honourable Patrick (Pat) MP.Â
The opening of the 2023 Legal Studies Youth Parliament, opened by the Speaker of the 57th Queensland Parliament.Â
How many students can I nominate?
Queensland-based schools are invited to nominate up to a maximum of 4 students who are:Â
- in Year 11 or 12, andÂ
- currently studying Legal Studies.
The final number of student participants allocated per school will depend on the number of schools that nominate. As we want as many schools to take part as possible, it is not guaranteed you will receive the number of nominations you request.
