Sustainable House Day is an event presented by Renew that provides the opportunity to explore some of Australia’s most inspiring homes, and learn from the people who designed them, built them, and live in them.

About this home

Over the past decade, this 4/5-bedroom home near the bush in Adamstown Heights has undergone extensive upgrades to improve energy efficiency and comfort. Enhancements include solar power, a hot water heat pump, new air conditioning, an induction cooktop, cathedral ceiling insulation, and double glazing, allowing the household to go off gas and halve energy use. A western green wall reduces summer heat load, while a variable-speed pool pump lowers power consumption. Recent renovations feature an enclosed dual shower for warmth and ventilation. Future plans include expanding solar capacity and purchasing an EV, showcasing how simple upgrades and behavioral changes can cut energy costs and emissions.

Renew is a small not for profit organisation that needs to raise money from ticket sales to cover the costs of hosting this event. In some cases the ticket revenue may also be split with the homeowner.
