We are delighted to invite you to our 60th Anniversary Singapore Alumni Celebration, which will feature an ‘In Conversation’ with two distinguished alumni from Singapore on creating impact across global borders and industries.

For six decades, our university has produced leaders, innovators and changemakers who have shaped industries and communities. We take great pride in the achievements of our Singapore alumni and look forward to commemorating this milestone together.

Speakers

Anwar Abdullah | Chief Executive Officer, Polytron.AI

Bachelor of Economics (1993)

Anwar Abdullah is the Chief Executive Officer of Polytron.AI, where he leads the company’s mission to redefine safety and security through AI, 360° cameras, and digital-twin technologies for real-time, proactive surveillance.

Prior to this, Anwar served over 30 years in Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs, holding senior roles such as Chief Executive of the Home Team Academy (HTA) and Deputy Commissioner of Operations and Policy at the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). At SCDF, he led major reforms including the Tiered Response concept for emergency medical services and the modernisation of fire stations and rescue operations. At HTA, he established globally recognised Centres of Excellence that transformed leadership development and simulation-based incident management.

Anwar also contributes to national policy and community development, serving on the Singapore Public Transport Council and chairing the 4th Home Team Corps Council to strengthen youth engagement. Internationally, he has represented Singapore in over ten humanitarian missions and played a key role in shaping the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER), as well as revising global disaster and search-and-rescue guidelines under UN OCHA and UN INSARAG.

Dr Sunny Johar | Managing Director, Southeast Asia and Group Head, Digital Strategy, KRDS Digital

Bachelor of Business (2014)

Dr Sunny Johar is the Managing Director for Southeast Asia and Group Head of Digital Strategy at KRDS Digital, a global marketing agency with operations across Asia and Europe.

She advises a diverse portfolio of clients, spanning international FMCG brands, Singaporean enterprises and government agencies. Since joining KRDS in 2017, Dr Johar has been pivotal in expanding the agency’s reach across Asia Pacific and the Middle East, while driving innovation in digital strategy, content and design. Prior to KRDS, she held roles at Publicis Singapore as Content Specialist and at PSB Academy as a Management Associate in Brand, Marketing and Corporate Communications.

Dr Johar was awarded Gold for Best Strategist Singapore by Marketing-Interactive and became the first woman to hold a director-level position at KRDS.

A/Prof Peter Duffy | Academic Director, Newcastle Australia Institute of Higher Education

Associate Professor Peter Duffy is the Academic Director at the Newcastle Australia Institute of Higher Education. He is an innovative and strategic higher education leader with over 30 years’ experience in academic transformation, digital education, curriculum reform, and quality assurance across Australia and Asia.

A/Prof Duffy has demonstrated expertise in building academic and institutional capability, leading multimillion-dollar educational projects and fostering cultures of scholarship and innovation. He has had extensive success in senior leadership roles including Deputy President (Education), Director of Learning & Teaching, Associate Director (Curriculum Development) and Head of the Innovation Hub.

A/Prof Duffy is recognised as a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA) and globally through awards, fellowships, and impactful contributions to institutional transformation.
