Meet Our Speakers for 'Beyond Labels'
Mina Sunico-Chin | Founder, AltSchool International
Mina is the founder of AltSchool International, an early intervention centre that offers a full-day programme blending therapies and education for children with developmental delays.
Her work is deeply shaped by personal experience as a mother of two autistic boys, grounding AltSchool in a philosophy that respects individuality, focuses on strengths and sees families as partners. Mina is completing her Master of Special and Inclusive Education at the University of Newcastle, building on her earlier career in publishing and digital marketing as co-founder of Hashtag Interactive.
Bernice Liang | Paediatric Occupational Therapist, MindChamps Allied Care
Bernice Liang is a paediatric occupational therapist with experience supporting children and youth with diverse developmental, sensory, and learning needs across home, school and community settings.
Bernice holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (Honours) and a Master of Special and Inclusive Education. She is actively involved in professional and community networks in Singapore, where she contributes to advancing inclusive practices. Guided by the belief that participation fosters both growth and inclusion, she works to empower children, caregivers, and educators in their unique contexts.
Shirlyn Lee | Founder, Swimrific
Shirlyn is the founder of Swimrific, a swim school in Singapore dedicated to infants, toddlers, individuals with special needs and water-phobic learners.
She co-developed the Singapore Red Cross First Responders Water Safety Programme and serves as an International Ambassador for SwimFin. Shirlyn holds a Master of Special and Inclusive Education from the University of Newcastle, where she graduated with Distinction. Her work blends evidence-based practice with respect for each learner’s individuality, showing that swimming can be accessible, healing and joyful for all.
Clara Phua | Co-Founder, Connexions Integrated Learning Hub
Clara is Co-Founder of Connexions Integrated Learning Hub, Asia’s first outcome-based centre providing intervention, training and employment pathways for high-support needs autistic adults.
Previously, Clara led two of Singapore’s largest student care organisations, managing over 60 centres, 450 staff and 8,000 students. She also worked in the SPED sector, equipping young adults with autism through vocational training and employment preparation. With over a decade in education and inclusion leadership, Clara continues to build bridges between intervention, training and real-world opportunities.

SNIL is a dynamic community of professionals and advocates dedicated to promoting transformative practices in inclusive education. The network comprises a passionate group of alumni and students from the University of Newcastle's Master of Special and Inclusive Education program.
