Event description

Are you aged 14-19 and ready to take your first step into the events industry? The STUFFit Crew Intensive is a hands-on, behind-the-scenes experience where you’ll train with professionals, work as a team, and help deliver a live event.

Each year, STUFFit Student Film Festival showcases short films from high school students across the world. It’s a festival run by students, for students, and now in our 14th year, we’re continuing to offer new pathways into the creative industries.

This year, the Crew Intensive runs alongside our film festival Screening & Awards Event, offering you the opportunity to step into crew roles and be mentored by our tech partner, QuEvents - a team of dedicated and experienced event professionals.

What You’ll Be Doing

Over the 3 day intensive, you'll work with us as part of either the Screening Crew or Media Crew.

The Screening Crew will be responsible for making the film festival's Screening & Events event, working across 3 different departments - tech, hospitality, and management.

  • The Tech Team will handle the AV side of the event: setting up cameras, operating venue lighting, adjusting microphones, and ensuring everything sounds top-notch.

  • The Hospitality Team are the first faces our guests see - you're responsible for greeting ticket holders and managing box office to selling food and drinks.

  • The Management Team will be running the show. This includes stage management, ushering, room setup, and MCing film categories during the screening.

Meanwhile, the Media Crew will be responsible for capturing all elements of the Crew Intensive and Screening Event through photo and video. This is a great chance for semi-experienced photographers and videographers to gain experience in event photography/videography, providing STUFFit with marketing materials for 2026.

If you're keen to join the media crew, we ask that you meet the following criteria:

  • you must be taking film/media as a subject in high school

  • you must have experience using camera equipment

  • we do have some gear, but you must bring your own camera

  • be capable of working both independently and in a team environment

How It Works

Thursday 2 & Friday 3 October - Across these two days, you’ll train, rehearse, and help bring the venue to life. You’ll work closely with your department team to learn how STUFFit runs behind the scenes, from technical production to front-of-house to media coverage. We’ll build the screening space from scratch, test gear, rehearse show cues, and run mock scenarios to make sure everyone’s confident and prepared. By the end of Friday, you’ll be fully across your role and ready to deliver the event like a pro.

Saturday 4 October - Showtime! You’ll put your skills to the test as we welcome students, teachers, industry guests and supporters to Light Industry for the 14th annual STUFFit Student Film Festival. It’s a fast-paced, high-stakes day, but you’ll finish with a huge sense of accomplishment, knowing you helped bring it all to life.

The Commitment

Limited spaces are available in the crew, strictly for young people aged 14-19. By signing up, you’re committing to the full 3-day workshop, which includes the film festival itself on Saturday night
