Event description

The UN Youth “The Voice Competition” will be held in October 2025 and is open to all students in Years 7 to 10. Participants are required to prepare and present a four-minute (Year 7 and 8) or five-minute (Year 9 and 10) speech outlining solutions for a provided topic and are then posed two questions by a judging panel which they must answer in the two minute question response time. Speeches and question responses are judged on matter, manner, and method. The semi-finals will be held on Saturday 8 November, with state finals taking place on Saturday 22 November for those who make it through the preliminary rounds. All information about the competition can be found by clicking here.

Students can elect to register themselves in the competition, or they can register through Pymble:

Students registering themselves:

  • Fees and Registration: The $30.00 competition fee will be paid directly through the UN Youth registration portal. The registration should be completed once registrations open in early September and before the deadline. Students should inform Mrs Hubbard of their heat date and time once known and if they progress to the finals.

  • Training: Students registering themselves will not be eligible for in-house training or workshops prior to their heat, however will be able to request training should they progress to the finals.

  • Heat Selection, Supervision and Travel: Students registering themselves will not be provided with supervision at the heats and must have a parent or carer accompany them to their heat round, All transport is the responsibility of the parent/carer. We recommend students registering themselves select a weekend heat option if available, as weekday heats will require the student to apply for leave to their school office by email if they will be out of school.

Students registering through Pymble:

  • Fees and Registration: A $50.00 fee will be added to their College account which includes both the competition registration fee and an additional training fee. Further details will be requested at a later date so we can register students through the UN Youth registration portal. Students electing to register through Pymble must NOT complete an online registration themselves.

  • Training: The additional training fee provides students with valuable access to two lunchtime workshops with past UN Youth The Voice Competition national finalists. The finalists will provide hints from their experience to help students prepare. Upon request, those registering through Pymble will also have the opportunity to receive feedback on their speech prior to their round. For students who progress to the finals, training will be ongoing, including meeting with a mentor to discuss options and ideas, having draft speeches read and edited, and rehearsals and specific feedback.

  • Heat Selection, Supervision and Travel: Students registering through Pymble will likely be allocated to the heat at Pymble scheduled on Monday 13 October. If this heat reaches capacity and students are allocated to another heat, transport options will be arranged through the College and students will be supervised at their heat. An additional transport fee may apply depending on the venue.

Regardless of whether you are registering yourself or registering through Pymble, click "Register" and complete the details to let us know you will be participating.
