Caves, Chords & Curiosity |  6pm - 7pm  | $15
Presented by David Shaw

Why do we have our current system of music notation? Who decided what sounds worked well together, or what didn’t? How did we end up with the instruments we have - what did our ancestors play to keep themselves entertained? Join self-confessed music nerd David Shaw on an exploration of the history of music, from German caves 50,000 years ago through Pythagoras and the Blacksmith, right on to modern-day pianos and their tuning systems. Find out about influential historical events that turned the course of Western Art Music and formed it into what it is today. Come armed with burning questions and leave with even more! This taster will whet the appetite and crack open the world of music.
