2025 Zonta Club of Maryborough International Women's Day Dinner

Guest Speaker - Lauren Souza da Silva

My name is Lauren Souza da Silva, and I am 29 years old. I come from a small town in Brazil called Bagé. I graduated in chemical engineering in 2019 and worked for a multinational company until 2022, when I decided to move to Australia. I arrived in Melbourne as a student, pursuing a Certificate IV in Project Management.

Initially, like many foreigners, I struggled to find work and purpose. During those years, I worked as a cleaner, receptionist, and support worker. Eventually, I moved to Hervey Bay and secured a job as a Project Manager at Stantec, where the local office is predominantly female.

Through these experiences, I have learned a great deal about finding purpose in life and maintaining mental strength and focus on my goals, especially as a woman in a challenging field and as a foreigner. I am very happy to share my experiences with other women.
