Event description

NOTE: This course is delivered as live online group training, via Zoom (not self-paced). You will access this course from your computer and will need a camera and microphone to participate. We will email you further instructions prior to the event.

Moving beyond awareness

This is an abridged half-day version of our standard full-day course. While a full day is required to cover the subject, this half-day course is a great introduction.

Cultural competence is a step beyond cultural awareness, and this course will help participants not just familiarise themselves with aspects of Aboriginal culture but also explore ways to make our organisations and communication more welcoming, inclusive and culturally safe for Aboriginal people.

Led by an experienced Aboriginal trainer, this half-day course will develop awareness and sensitivity, while providing practical skills and actionable real-world ways to improve how we engage with Aboriginal people and their communities.

Topics include:

  • Understanding cultural safety
  • Introduction to Aboriginal culture
  • Impact of colonisation
  • Intergenerational trauma
  • Language tools
  • Inclusive workplaces and services

This course includes:

  • Engaging, up-to-date materials.
  • Resource package provided in advance to print or access electronically.
  • Certificate of attendance.
