The tour provides an informative behind-the-scenes look at EMRC's waste diversion programs, the landfill tip face and Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) recovery. After the site tour, participants are invited to visit Red Hill's Education Centre for a light morning tea, to see our waste education activities and connect with other attendees.
Minimum age requirement and adult supervision:
Please note this is a mixed ages tour for the general public. The minimum age requirement for children is 6 years of age and they must be accompanied by a supervising adult - each attendee must be registered for their own ticket. Children under the age of 6 years old are not permitted.
Tour logistics and footwear requirements:
This free chartered bus tour is for residents in the City of Bayswater and the Town of Bassendean. The bus has scheduled departures from two locations as follows:
1) Bus departs 9:10am sharp from bus bay on Drake St, near the corner of Broun Ave, Morley
2) Bus departs 9:30am sharp bus bay outside the Bassendean Memorial Library on Old Perth Rd, near corner of WIlson St, Bassendean.Â
Full details, including the bus departure location maps will be provided to registered participants via email closer to the tour date.
Residents from the City of Swan and Shire of Mundaring also welcome to register to attend and places are limited. All attendees are required to make their own way to their nominated bus departure location- please plan your journey in advance to allow time to check in and board the bus, as the tour bus will depart promptly at the scheduled times. The tour guide will be wearing a hi-visibility vest and will wait outside the charter bus to check guests in before they board. After the tour, the bus will drop participants back at the same two locations.Â
Stairs, ramp, and pathways:Â
Please note this is a bus tour and attendees are to remain on the bus for the duration of the site tour. Following the tour, the tour group will visit the Education Centre at Red Hill. The pathway from the bus parking bay to the toilets and the Education Centre includes sections of paving, small stairs/ramp, and some loose gravel. Attendees are asked to use the handrails while ascending and descending the stairs/ramp. Please contact the Waste Education team to discuss any concerns you may have.
Reminder emails, including the departure location maps, what to bring, and what to wear will be sent to registered participants via email in the lead up to the tour (please ensure you check your email inbox and/or junk folder in case our emails are filtered out on your end).
