Master of Ceremonies - SIMON O'DONNELL
Simon O’Donnell’s sporting career reads like a schoolboy’s dream come true. After excelling in sport at Assumption College in Kilmore, he played two successful seasons of Australian Rules Football with St Kilda before making the difficult decision to concentrate on cricket.
It was a decision that took Simon to the highest level of the sport. He represented Australia and was a member of the victorious 1987 World Cup team. Shortly after returning home, however, Simon was diagnosed with cancer. He fought the disease for 12 months and survived, continuing his cricket career until retiring after the 1992–93 season.
Not only did he survive, but in 1993, Cleo readers voted him the fourth-sexiest man on the planet!
Since retiring, Simon has pursued his lifelong passion for thoroughbred horse racing and built an extensive media career, including roles as a Nine Network cricket commentator and host of The Cricket Show. More recently, he has focused on his business interests as a founding director of Teamapp, co-founder of grassroots streaming service Sideline Sports TV, and a member of the Marshall White real estate team’s rural lifestyle division.
