2026 ChessPalace Amateur Tournament
Description
ChessPalace, an Orange County chess club, is hosting a monthly Amateur chess tournament at SteelCraft Garden Grove.
Open to players of all ages with rating/elo of 1400 or below, who would like to play chess competitively, this event is a great way to start playing over the board in a casual atmosphere.
Players will be allocated to a group and they will play assigned opponents. There will be at least 5 games to be played for the tournament.
Players are expected to play with tournament etiquette and sportsmanship.
Rules to be familiar with:
1. using a chess clock
2. touch move/touch capture rules
3. how to report scores
4. claims for draws
5. stalemate vs checkmate positions
6. no talking or discussions while playing
Sign in by 11:30 am and games starts 12:00 pm.
Chess boards and pieces will be available for use. If you would like to bring your own tournament-sized sets, you’re welcome to bring them. If you have a clock, please bring it and set to 30 min/5 sec delay.
Medal awards for winners!
Entry Fee: $32+Humanitix fee ($45 onsite)
