2026 CRE Expert Webinar 3 - Diamond-Blackfan Anaemia: Understanding Disease Mechanisms and the Therapeutic Action of Glucocorticoids

The Maddie Riewoldt's Vision Centre of Research Excellence in Bone Marrow Biology is proud to present the third session of the 2026 Expert Webinar Series for our research community featuring expert speaker Dr Deena Iskander, Medical Research Council Clinician-Scientist Fellow in the Department of Immunology and Inflammation at Imperial College London.

Dr Iskander is a clinician-scientist specialising in inherited Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes, with a particular focus on Diamond-Blackfan anaemia. Her research investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying this rare ribosomopathy and aims to understand how these insights can inform the development of improved therapies.

In this webinar, Dr Iskander will explore the biological mechanisms of Diamond-Blackfan anaemia and discuss the therapeutic action of glucocorticoids. Drawing on her clinical and research expertise, she will highlight how advances in molecular biology are improving our understanding of disease pathogenesis and shaping future approaches to treatment.

The session includes a 45-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute Q&A.
