2026 CRE Expert Webinar - Somatic Genetic Rescue in Mendelian Haematopoietic Diseases
Description
The Maddie Riewoldt's Vision Centre of Research Excellence in Bone Marrow Biology is proud to present the fourth and final session of the 2026 Expert Webinar Series, featuring Dr Patrick Revy, co-head of the Genome Dynamics in Human Diseases laboratory at the Imagine Institute in Paris, France.

Dr Revy’s research has focused on rare inherited immune and haematopoietic disorders, including DNA repair defects, ribosomopathies and telomere biology disorders. In this webinar, he will explore somatic genetic rescue (SGR), where an acquired somatic mutation can counteract the effect of a disease-causing germline mutation and provide a selective advantage to modified blood cells. Drawing on examples identified in his laboratory, he will discuss how SGR can promote clonal expansion, modify disease evolution, and have implications for the diagnosis and evolution of clinical manifestations in inherited haematopoietic disorders.
The session includes a 45-minute presentation and 15-minute Q&A.
This webinar is suitable for clinicians, researchers, scientists, allied health professionals and students working in Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes.
Registration is free but essential. The Zoom access link will be sent to registered attendees prior to the webinar.
