2026 Greenpower Australia Burnie Goblins
Description
2026 Greenpower Australia Burnie Goblins
Young engineers. Electric vehicles. Big ideas. An incredible day of STEM!
Join Greenpower Australia and GreenSTEM Education for the 2026 Burnie Goblins, as primary-school students from across Tasmania put their engineering skills, creativity and teamwork to the test in an exciting electric vehicle competition!
Taking place on Friday, 13 November 2026 at McKenna Park in Burnie, this event will see student teams competing in their very own electric-powered Greenpower Goblin vehicles, designed, built and developed through hands-on STEM learning.
Come along, cheer on the teams and experience what happens when young people are given the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality!
What is Greenpower?
Greenpower is an internationally recognised STEM education challenge that inspires young people to design, build and race electric vehicles.
It's about much more than racing. Students develop practical engineering and technical skills while learning about teamwork, problem-solving, sustainability, innovation, resilience and communication.
Through Greenpower Australia, delivered nationally by Tasmanian not-for-profit GreenSTEM Education, we're creating extraordinary opportunities for young Australians to participate in real-world engineering challenges and connect with a growing national and international STEM community.
What can you expect?
Throughout the day, primary-school teams will take on three exciting driving challenges:
Drag Challenge – See the Goblins accelerate down a straight course, testing vehicle performance, driver control and braking.
Slalom Challenge – Watch drivers navigate a technical course, combining precision, handling and careful control.
Sprint Challenge – Teams put their vehicles and driving skills to the test in a timed sprint.
There will also be awards recognising outstanding engineering, creativity, sustainability, teamwork and presentation.
And because it's Friday the 13th, keep an eye out for some wonderfully creative Goblin designs and special themed awards!
One of our most important recognitions is the Spirit of Greenpower Award, celebrating the team that best demonstrates kindness, resilience, encouragement, sportsmanship and support for others.
