2026 Greenpower Australia Burnie Heat (F24/F24+)
Description
2026 Greenpower Australia Burnie F24/F24+ Heat
Real electric racing. Real engineering. Extraordinary opportunities for young Australians.
Join us for an exciting day of electric vehicle racing as Greenpower Australia returns to the North Western Kart Club at Highclere on Saturday, 14 November 2026!
Watch teams of young engineers from across Tasmania and beyond put their skills, creativity and determination to the test as they compete in the 2026 Burnie F24/F24+ Heat.
These aren't remote-controlled cars or classroom models. They're real, single-seat electric racing vehicles that students have built, developed, tested and improved themselves.
From designing aerodynamic bodywork and refining electrical systems to planning pit stops, managing energy consumption and developing race strategies, every aspect of Greenpower brings STEM learning to life.
And now it's time to put all that hard work to the test on the racetrack!
What is Greenpower Australia?
Greenpower is an internationally recognised STEM education challenge that inspires young people to design, build and race electric vehicles.
Delivered nationally by GreenSTEM Education, a Tasmanian-founded not-for-profit organisation, Greenpower Australia provides an exciting pathway for students to develop real-world skills in engineering, technology, sustainability, teamwork, problem-solving, communication and leadership.
But Greenpower is about much more than building the fastest car.
It's about giving young people opportunities to discover what they're capable of achieving, develop confidence, work collaboratively and connect their learning to exciting future pathways.
Two categories. One exciting day of racing.
The Burnie Heat features two Greenpower competition categories:
Formula 24 (F24) – Years 5–10
School teams compete in two 90-minute endurance races, combining vehicle performance, engineering reliability, energy efficiency, driver changes, pit-stop strategy and teamwork.
Formula 24+ (F24+) – Years 11 to age 25
Our senior category features a 60-minute endurance race, giving older students and young adults the opportunity to take their engineering and racing skills even further.
Both categories showcase how innovation, persistence and careful engineering can make a real difference on the track.

From Tasmania to the world!
2026 has been an incredible year for Greenpower Australia, including taking the first-ever Australian Formula 24 team to compete at the Greenpower International Final at Goodwood Motor Circuit in England.
Now we're building on that achievement, creating opportunities for even more Australian students to experience world-class STEM education and international competition.
The Burnie Heat forms part of the lead-up to the 2026 Greenpower Australia National Final at Symmons Plains Raceway on Friday, 11 December, where teams from across Australia will have the opportunity to come together and celebrate their achievements.
Leading Australian teams will also have the opportunity to earn invitations to represent Australia at the 2027 Greenpower International Final in the United Kingdom.
For students involved in Greenpower, the possibilities extend well beyond the finish line!
