Description: This presentation explores the career, financial and lifestyle differences between working independently from home and working within a multidisciplinary allied health clinic.

We will examine what working as an RMT in a clinical environment actually looks like — including the types of patients and conditions seen, collaboration with physiotherapists and other health professionals, internal referrals, mentoring, professional development and the support of an established team and administration system.

The presentation will also explore the genuine benefits of working from home, including independence, flexibility and control, alongside the often-overlooked challenges of running your own business: marketing, bookings, cancellations, HICAPS, accounting, insurance, laundry, cleaning, consumables and unpaid administration.

A practical cost-benefit analysis will compare an RMT treating 20 patients per week in a clinic with one charging $110 per treatment from home. Once GST, business expenses and unpaid working hours are considered, the financial difference may be surprisingly small.

Ultimately, this presentation isn't about declaring one model better than the other. It's about helping RMTs understand the true financial, professional and lifestyle value of each option and asking a bigger question:
