Travel instructions

Train Station: The easiest way to get to the State Library of Queensland from South Brisbane Station is simply to walk. The station is the closest train station to the library, located about 500-600 metres away, which takes approximately 6-7 minutes on foot. Walking directions Exit South Brisbane Station onto Grey Street. Head north-west along Grey Street toward the Cultural Precinct. Turn toward Stanley Place and follow the signs to the State Library of Queensland. The library is located at Stanley Place, South Brisbane, within the Queensland Cultural Centre precinct. Bus: The Cultural Centre Busway Station on Melbourne Street is just 260m from the library, making it one of the most convenient public transport options. Once arrived, follow the signs to the State Library of Queensland using the pedestrian walkways through the Cultural Precinct. CityCat/Ferry: The nearest ferry terminals are South Bank 1 and South Bank 2, located approximately 800m from the library, or around a 10-minute walk through the Cultural Precinct. Upon your arrival, please make your way to the reception desk on Level 1 where a VQ staff member will be there to greet you - look for the red shirts!

Accessible parking

For those who are driving, State Library carpark is P3, accessible via Stanley Place. Standard parking is $20.00 per entry. More information on parking, including a map can be found on the Arts Queensland website. Guests with reserved or pre-booked parking, will have a vacant bay in P3, and will need to state their name at the entry intercom to gain access.

This may include, but is not limited to: mobility access, Auslan interpreting, sensory considerations, or other support needs. To ensure we can accommodate your requirements, requests for accessibility support must be submitted by 15 October 2026 to allow sufficient time for appropriate arrangements to be made. Requests received after this date will be supported where possible, however some services may be subject to availability. Any information provided regarding accessibility requirements will be used solely for the purpose of supporting your participation and will be treated confidentially.
