2026 Seasonal Journeys Autumn Equinox Hike
Description
Please join us for a Autumn Equinox hike with the Douglas Land Conservancy. If you like to watch the sunrise or sunset, you’ll notice that the sun is quickly moving to the south and is halfway between the northern and southernmost points. The plants are noticing the daily changes. We’ll see mature plants that are producing seeds for the next generation and many that are still soaking up the sun’s rays and growing strong.
We’ll be marking the seasons this year with special hikes on the two equinoxes (equal day and night) and two solstices (longest and shortest days) at Dawson Butte Open Space. Please join us to see how the plants and animals respond in this dance between the earth and the sun.
DLC hikes are offered free of charge, but a $10 per person donation is suggested so that we may continue to offer educational outreach hikes in the community.
